PTSD / Complex: CPTSD

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is experienced after a shock. When it is complex (CPTSD), it can evoke other traumatic events, such as experiencing systematic abuse. Living in Survival Mode can lead to Emotional Flashbacks. It is essential to treat PTSD with therapy and provide support for those who need it. Having an emotional practice that anchors individuals to their inner strength, such as practising faith, art, sport, discipline, or meditation, is crucial. Belonging to a supportive community can also help improve the situation quickly.

Healing an Emotional Pain

You can follow a daily recipe and choose a specific moment to process your emotions. If you have thoughts, flashbacks, or rumination leading to negative emotions, use that energy at the designated time. When these thoughts arise, tell them that you will address them later. Choose a safe time in the day to let yourself go emotionally. If it is sadness or fear, allow yourself to cry with screams, exercise, jump, move, dance, and then take a shower. If it is rage, let out roars that shake your body, making you strong and flexible, exercise, take a shower, and that's it. If it is grief, let the wave pass through your body, allow the tears to flow, or use a cushion to punch. If it is guilt, write down everything you need to express, then come back, take a shower, and lie down for a while. Gradually, the emotional waves will flow more gently through your body, and you will learn to recognise when your body is processing your experiences, not just your mind.

*In my experience with panic attacks, understanding the physiological aspect helped me gain self-awareness during moments when my heart was racing, and I feared the worst. I have learned to shape the emotional wave.

Inhale twice, then take one long exhale...
