Eyes: Mirrors of the Soul
Our eyes translate light frequencies into information that we process in the brain. The eyes are, in fact, an extension of our brain, situated outside our skull. Various studies show that people feel a sense of connection when they look into each other’s eyes. However, for some, it can be very stressful to maintain eye contact, especially if they stare silently into someone’s eyes for a couple of minutes.
We can practise looking into our own eyes in the mirror, smiling from the heart, and thinking about positive things we can tell ourselves. When we have the opportunity to gaze comfortably into someone else’s eyes, we can maintain the gaze for as long as it feels comfortable. Afterward, we can ask the other person what they perceived—emotions, thoughts, or ideas may emerge, which might hold value even if they don't make sense initially.
Getting used to seeing yourself with smiling eyes will create a habit of self-acceptance and positive feelings towards yourself. Similarly, when you become accustomed to seeing others with loving eyes, this will foster a chain reaction, positively influencing how they feel towards you and how they feel about themselves. It is a beautiful way to positively impact your surroundings.
